What is the best way to report a crime?
If you have an Emergency dial "911". Otherwise, please call the Police Department at 941-429-7300.

What are the cost for copies of reports?
If the report is available from this website, there is no charge. If the report is provided by our Records Division, the cost is $0.15 per page for single sided, $0.20 for double sided reports. If the nature or volume of public records requested requires extensive use of information technology resources or if the request requires research beyond fifteen (15) minutes, a charge of $14.00 per hour will apply, plus the cost of copies as stated above. If your request requires supervisory assistance,you may be charged at the supervisor’s current rate of pay in lieu of the $14.00 per hour charge, plus the cost of copies as stated above.

Records Division hours of operation?
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 8:00am to 7:00pm, and Tuesday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Closed weekends and holidays. Website access is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week via Internet connection.

When can I get fingerprints taken and how much does it cost?
Wednesday and Friday, 8:00 am - 11:00 am. Note: This service is only available to North Port residents at no charge.

Where do I pay my traffic and parking tickets?
Traffic violations get paid at the Sarasota County Clerk of Courts Office located at: 4000 South Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL. Parking tickets and citations involving violation of Florida State Statutes (316.610 - Defective Equipment) can be paid at the North Port Police Department: 4980 City Hall Blvd, North Port, FL, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 8:00am to 7:00pm, and Tuesday from 8:00am to 5:00pm . Closed weekends and holidays.

Where is the North Port Police Department located?
The North Port Police Department is located at: 4980 City Hall Blvd, North Port, FL 34286. From I-75 North or South, take exit 182 (Sumter Blvd.), head south off the exit, take a left at the first traffic light where the Fire Department is (City Center Blvd), and follow back around to the Police Deparment building located next to City Hall. From U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail) heading north, take a right onto Sumter Blvd, or from U.S 41 (Tamiami Trail) heading south, take a left onto Sumter Blvd. Follow Sumter Blvd - after the second light take a right onto City Hall Blvd and the Police Deparment is on your left hand side.

Where do I go for restraining orders?
To obtain a restraining order go to the Sarasota County Clerk of Courts Office located at: 4000 South Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL. 34293 Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Tel #: 941-861-7400.

Where do I get a new driver`s license?
There are driver’s license services available at City Hall on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month between the hours of 10:00am – 2:00pm. They will do everything WITH THE EXCEPTION OF the driving road test. Driver’s license services are also provided at the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles, Driver`s License Office, 601 Pompano Ave., Sarasota, FL. 34237 Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Tel #: 941-861-7400.
